Cross-country skiing
In Parra you can find a lighted ski track, which wanders up and down the Parra mountain. In a winter with enough snow, it’s also possible to join a 70-kilometer long ski trail network from Parra.

Parra’s 5-kilometer long lighted ski track
The track follows the hiking trails of Parra, climbing up and down the mountain. The trail travels uphill, yet offers some speedy slides as well. There are also multiple shortcuts between longer tracks, making it possible for you to choose the length of your skiing trip easily.
The tracks are not made with cannon snow, so their condition depends on natural snowfall. That means the possibilities to maintain the tracks variate between winters and weathers.
There is space for parking in either Luonto-Parra or Snowpark Parra on both sides of the mountain. From the side of Luonto-Parra, you can access the trail easily from the yard. On the other side, it’s most efficient to park right to the left corner as you arrive to the parking lot. From there you can just slide right to the tracks!
If you arrive to the ski tracks when it’s already dark out, you need to turn on the lightning yourself. In Luonto-Parra’s side the light switch is located on a pole, right in the middle of the buildings. In Snowpark the switch can be found on a pole as well, this time on the left when arriving to the parking lot. After being turned on, the lights will automatically turn off at 21:00 (9 pm).

Longer ski trip on the 15-30 kilometers long trails
In a winter with enough snow you can join a network that consists of 70 kilometers of ski track from Parra. The tracks follow the hiking trails of Ancient Mountains. One example of these routes is the Sivi track (Sivin lenkki in Finnish). Connecting tracks can also take you to ski lodges, of Parramaja in Teuva or Kakkori in the neighboring town Karijoki.
When joining the track network from Parra, parking can be found in Luonto-Parra’s parking lot. A connecting track starts from the Luonto-Parra yard, which later branches out to different routes. You can find more information on the routes on a board in the yard.
The Sivi track
The Sivi ski track travels south from Parra. The trail passes by the Lake Cottage (Järvikämppä in Finnish), a small resting lodge. On this track you also ski through Suksenjärvi and Lutakkoneva, a beautiful swamp that is also Natura-2000 -protected. Eventually, the track returns back to Parra. This route is easy to ski through, as there are no high hills on its way.
Along the way, there is a lovely resting lodge called Sivi Cottage (Sivin kämppä in Finnish), where you can for example stop to eat and rest your legs. Sivi’s lean-to-shelter is also a great place to grill food on the fire.

Longer ski trails to Pappilankangas and Kakkori, of 20 to 30 kilometers
From the Sivi track you can keep going and take the connecting track to Pappilankangas recreation grounds. The track branches out at Suksenjärvi, and travels towards the Pappilankangas ski lodge. The route from Parra to Pappilankangas is around 15 kilometers in one direction. Along this route there are a couple lean-to-shelters, as well as the Lake Cottage resting lodge.

In the same way, there is a connecting trail from Sivi track to the ski lodge of Kakkori in Karijoki. This trail leaves from the southernmost point of the Sivi track. The said point is located roughly half way of the Sivi track, and is also pointed out with guiding signs. The distance between Parra and Kakkori is around 13 kilometers. This trail also offers resting sites in two lodges and three lean-to-shelters along the way.
